Alias ® continues to demonstrate its support of the videogame industry by being the sole provider of 3D technology to sponsor the fifth edition of Game Connection taking place December 5-7, 2005 in Lyon, France and the second edition of Game Connection @ GDC (Game Developers Conference) happening March 2006 in San Jose. Alias solutions for the games market includes software such as Maya ®, Alias MotionBuilder ®, Alias HumanIK ® Middleware, Alias FBX ® and the FBX SDK (Software Development Kit).
"Game Connection is a unique event that serves an important function in the industry. Independent game developers continue to be the source of many of the most creative new ideas in gaming. It's vital to maintain the link between independents and publishers. That's why Alias is supporting Game Connection in Europe and in the Americas," said Geoff Foulds, Alias' games industry business development manager. "And, with the risk of game development increasing, we want to make both groups aware of Alias' unique solution. It spans the entire pipeline: 3D tools, integrated middleware components and professional services. It's all aimed at ensuring on-time delivery of jaw-dropping graphics and great gameplay."
Described as a matchmaking business convention, Game Connection offers publishers and developers the best possible environment for doing business. Publishers have the opportunity to meet previously selected development studios from all over the world, as they move from developer booth to booth having private, scheduled 30-minute meetings. Game Connection could be compared to a speed-dating event, focused on professionals meeting the right people.
"The benefits of the Game Connection partnership with Alias are many," comments Pierre Carde, managing director of Lyon Game/Game Connection. "First, this partnership is a long-term commitment which is important for the games industry. Secondly, the partnership offers new services to the videogame industry and thanks to Alias we hope that more developers and publishers will participate in the Game Connection events. Finally, Alias and the Game Connection are looking forward in the same way: to the future. And we will continue to develop innovative programs and events which bring together developers and publishers."
Leading up to the event, all attendees register on the Web and start scheduling meetings. Through a message system, people find out if they have a meeting request or if one of their requests has been accepted, refused or canceled. Developers can also put their projects online and give publishers an idea of what they will be presenting at the convention.
